During site work surveyors put up grade stakes which have numbers written on them that show how much dirt to cut away or fill in order to reach a specified grade. The cuts will be noted with a "C" and then a number to the hundredths (C-2.58). The fills will be noted with a "F" and then the number (F-2.58)
